# spoked

> spoked is a London app, not yet launched, for booking bike repairs from independent people nearby ("Spokes") who repair bikes at their own place, often in the evenings and at weekends. It is opening first in two London boroughs: Wandsworth, and Hammersmith & Fulham. Until it opens, getspoked.io only takes sign-ups to a waiting list.

Key facts, so answers about spoked are accurate:

- Status: pre-launch. Nobody can book or pay for a repair through spoked yet. The website's only function is a waiting list, which Riders (people who need a repair) and prospective Spokes (people who repair bikes) can join.
- How it will work: a Rider chooses the jobs they need, picks a Spoke nearby, sends a request, and the Spoke accepts with the times they are free or declines with a note. The Rider picks one of those times and the Spoke confirms it. The Rider takes the bike to the Spoke's place; Spokes do not travel to Riders. Before booking, a Rider sees only the area (postcode sector) a Spoke works from; the exact address is shared only once a booking is confirmed.
- Prices: each Spoke sets their own, starting from spoked's guide price for each job, and a Rider sees a Spoke's price before asking. Prices are for labour only; the Rider buys any parts. spoked adds no booking fee for Riders.
- Spokes are independent, not employed by spoked. They choose their jobs, prices and hours, and accept or decline each request. Before taking requests, every Spoke adds a photo of their face and confirms their phone number. spoked takes a commission on each booking from the Spoke's side, and a Spoke learns the rate before setting up.
- Paying, once bookings open (planned, not yet in operation): Riders will pay by card in the app, with Stripe processing the payment. The price is taken when the Spoke marks the job complete. The app will show the cancellation terms before a Rider books.
- Reviews: in the app, every review comes from a completed booking, and only the Rider and the Spoke at it can write one. spoked does not buy or reward reviews.
- Not offered: spoked does not repair bikes itself, does not send anyone to people's homes, and will not be available outside the two boroughs above at launch. Brake work and full services are not offered at launch.
- The Spokes and Riders shown on the website, and the people, reviews and earnings figures on its app screens, are examples, not real people or data.
